FINN vs. Subscribe with Enterprise: Which Should You Get a Car From?

FINN began in Germany in 2019 and quickly entered the U.S. car subscription market in 2022. The company flourished to command a global fleet of 20,000 vehicles, with over 2,000 available in the States. FINN remains focused on offering flexible, sustainable car subscription services to provide customers with the convenience necessary in the 21st century. 

Intent on breaking the mold of the traditional car rental market, FINN offers car subscriptions that make sense for modern life. “What is a car subscription?” you might ask. This type of agreement allows you to subscribe to a vehicle for a short period, choose the car you want, and pay one monthly payment to cover everything from registration and insurance to depreciation and maintenance. The only other cost you have to worry about is fuel.  

Enterprise has been around since 1957. When you need to look into how much it costs to rent a car, Enterprise is probably one of the companies you comparison shop. Subscribe with Enterprise is the brand’s latest service, which offers customers a chance to subscribe to a car for one flat fee. 

In the world of car leasing, buying, and subscription, Enterprise competes with companies like Sixt and FINN. Enterprise offers traditional car rental agreements and the availability that an established network of nationwide offices brings with it. However, many customers look to newcomers like FINN for a premium experience. 

You must meet eligibility requirements to subscribe to a car with FINN and Subscribe with Enterprise. 

FINN requires drivers to be at least 25, possess a valid driver’s license for at least two years from the issue date, and agree to a credit check. Drivers must have a 640 credit score or higher to qualify. Credit scores lower than 679 require a refundable security deposit equal to two months of payments. FINN allows your domestic partner or spouse to drive the car without any additional fees. 

Enterprise requires a similar set of qualifications, including drivers that are at least 25. Drivers must also possess a valid driver’s license, credit card, and proof of physical address. A verifiable email address is also required. Enterprise also allows your domestic partner or spouse to drive the car without any additional fees. 

Enterprise requires that you return your subscription to a location in your home state. You can drive outside your home state, including Canada, but you cannot drive your car subscription into Mexico. 

FINN offers six and 12-month subscription terms, with your choice of monthly miles:

FINN charges a fee per mile depending on the model for mileage over your allotted limits. Contact FINN six weeks before the end of your subscription to discuss renewal options and get you into your next car.

You cannot cancel your subscription once your vehicle has been delivered to you. You can terminate your subscription in 48 hours without incurring an early termination penalty. However, after 48 hours, you must pay a restocking fee if your subscription hasn’t already been delivered. 

Enterprise offers terms similar to a short-term car lease, with a two-month minimum commitment required. Your subscription renews every month after that until you cancel it. When you cancel your subscription, your bill is prorated for any remaining time. You must return your car subscription with a fuel level matching that which it came with to a participating Enterprise in your home state. 

You are allotted 3,000 miles per month, the excess of which roll over to the next month. However, your miles expire at the end of the calendar year. If you exceed your allotted mileage, Enterprise charges $0.40 per mile. You can change your car up to four times per month with Enterprise. 

You cannot use your Enterprise car subscription for ride-share purposes, including Lyft and Uber. 

You don’t have to join the ranks of lease hackers to get a good deal on a car subscription. FINN offers subscriptions starting at $509. There are no enrollment fees or upfront costs unless you have a credit score below 679. Individual subscription rates vary depending on which car you subscribe to. 

Subscribing with Enterprise costs $1,499 monthly, regardless of which car you choose. Taxes and fees are additional. 

You don’t have to worry about the best lease deals with $0 down or the best time to lease a car with FINN and Subscribe with Enterprise. Instead, you can enjoy the benefits of a car subscription year-round. 

FINN subscribers pay a single monthly fee that includes the following:

FINN handles any damage to your car subscription through a third-party company. Your insurance policy comes with a $1,000 deductible standard on most insurance policies of similar coverage. Plus, the 24/7 roadside assistance comes in handy when you need it most. 

Subscribe with Enterprise also includes roadside assistance, maintenance, insurance, registration, and satellite radio if your car is properly equipped. Physical damage requires a similar $1,000 deductible. Roadside assistance includes:

• Fuel delivery (up to three gallons)

Enterprise handles standard maintenance such as tire rotations and oil changes.

Likewise, Subscribe with Enterprise allows you to decide between full-size and premium sedans, SUVs, and trucks. Enterprise does not currently offer hybrids or EVs in the Subscribe with Enterprise program.

FINN offers EVs, including the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. Enterprise provides luxury sedans and SUVs but doesn’t advertise hybrids or EVs.

Subscribe with Enterprise is only available in Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada at participating neighborhood locations within the originating state. 

You can enroll and apply for a FINN car subscription online without any upfront or enrollment fees. Once approved, you can pick the car you want to subscribe to and check out. FINN can deliver your car subscription to your home. When your subscription term has ended, you can drop your car off or have it picked up for $199. However, if you book another subscription, FINN waives this pickup fee. 

You must make your first payment to pick up your Subscribe with Enterprise car. All subscriptions require a $250 enrollment fee, but you can apply online. Once you’re approved, you’ll receive a Subscriber ID and a phone number to call to set up your subscription. 

FINN operates within a large delivery radius. Delivery times vary between one day and a week, depending on availability and your location. 

Subscribe with Enterprise promises customers their Subscriber ID within three business days after acceptance into the program. Deliveries are coordinated while you’re on the phone with a dedicated concierge and take a similar ETA to FINN. Enterprise has a slightly larger base of 5,800 nationwide locations, so the availability is somewhat higher depending on your location and what vehicle you choose.
