What does a typical day in your role look like?

While no two days are exactly the same, there’s a structure that helps us stay focused and connected:

Morning Routine (8:30–10:00 AM)

We usually start the day between 8:30 and 9:00 AM at the office - and let’s be honest—no day really starts without a good cappuccino and a bowl of muesli from our muesli bar. The first hour is about getting organized: checking emails, reviewing open positions and new applications. As a Talent Acquisition Intern, you take full ownership of your own job postings right from the beginning.

Team Syncs & Weekly Rhythm

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, our Talent Acquisition team meets to align priorities, share updates, and support each other with urgent topics. Wednesdays are reserved for broader discussions, including strategy, sourcing progress, screening and interview coordination, as well as updates on employer branding campaigns and introductions to improved processes. We also review our TA Dashboard regularly to maintain full oversight of our workflows. As an intern, you are encouraged to prepare brief updates and openly share any challenges you’re facing.

Before Lunch (10:00–12:00 PM)

This time is typically filled with interviews, meetings with hiring managers, or focused work on the full recruiting lifecycle.

Lunch Break (12:00 PM)

It’s Lunch Time!! We’ve got plenty of great options nearby, like our go-to Indian spot Swagat or healthy meals from Bella Bona, which are even subsidized by FINN. After lunch, a quick walk with the team is the perfect way to reset.

Afternoon Focus (1:00–5:00 PM)

Afternoons often feature in-depth sessions such as the Unconscious Bias Trainings we offer to all hiring managers, as well as the monthly All-Hands meetings. Weekly one-on-ones with our lead ensure continuous support and feedback. During this time, we conduct numerous candidate interviews and maintain close communication with hiring managers—whether via Slack, Google Hangouts, or face-to-face. Afternoons are also dedicated to sourcing, refining job ads, and collaborating with other departments to keep the hiring process running smoothly.

Wrap-Up (5:00–6:00 PM)

We close the day with some focused quiet time to organize, clear out messages, and prepare for the next day.

How do you collaborate with other teams at FINN?

At FINN, we work in a cross-functional setup—each department is supported by one person from the Talent Acquisition team and one from the People Experience team. For example, Steffi supports the Finance department, while Louisa takes care of Operations.
From day one, building strong relationships is a big priority. As a new joiner, you're encouraged to schedule get-to-know chats and casual coffee catch-ups with hiring managers and the people you’ll be working closely with. It’s a great way to build trust and ensure smooth collaboration from the start.

When it comes to recruiting, we rely on weekly Hiring Syncs to exchange updates, feedback, and thoughts on open positions. Most day-to-day coordination happens quickly via Slack.

But collaboration at FINN goes far beyond our collaboration in recruiting. As interns, we have a bi-weekly lunch with the other interns and a monthly “Stammtisch”—a get-together where we catch up, share experiences, and have some fun (and drinks). And with regular team activities and company-wide events, there are always opportunities to meet people from across the organization and feel part of the bigger picture. And if you ever miss an event—don’t worry! There are plenty of other chances to connect and have a great time with your fellow FINNies.

What advice would you give to someone starting in this position?

Be open-minded, don’t let anything intimidate you, and know that you have the full support of the team. You’re always encouraged to ask questions—anytime and about anything—and that’s exactly how it should be! Reach out to people, join the events whenever you can. Your time as an intern may be short, but make the most of it and enjoy every moment of being a FINNie!
